Dunedin Animal Medical Center & Pet Resort

I haven’t been going here with my pets long but I absolutely love this vet office! It is so hard finding a reputable vet with great staff. Their prices are great and their staff is amazing. My pets and I love Dr. Calhoun. You can really tell that each staff member cares deeply about the animals they work with, I trust them to always provide great care for my babies and they haven’t disappointed me. Also their hours are amazing and pretty much every time I’ve been able to get a preferred appointment on the day I want, as well as same day appointments or early next day appointments. They are also considerate of my time and do their best to get me in and out quickly, something I haven’t found in most vets offices. They also always call the next day to check in and though it’s a small gesture it really goes a long way as a super worried dog mom. I also called once because I worried about my pup and Dr. Calhoun personally got on the phone to reassure me that everything was okay. I recently went to another vets office because it with free with the adoption of one of my pups and I was reminded of why I chose DAMC and will continue to do so.

Place was decent but progressively got worse. Now they are beyond a hassle to deal with. After 10 years, I cannot trust them. Apparently everyone else is experiencing the same issues with them.Update: Specifically The staff made a boarding appointment (Christine) then 2 days later called (Jennifer) demanding they become my dogs vet when my dog has a different vet more convenient to me. I went to the owner & he agreed that his employees are sub par but was concerned about it. At this point I sourced a better & much more established kennel since this place simply can't be trusted no longer. I am sure they are having financial problems which is obvious from the level of care + customer service. Rest assured they are going to be out of business soon enough so the likelihood of me or any of they're other disgruntled customers ever returning is the equivalent of a snowball in hell!! Pound sand & stop wasting people's time❤️

This location is easily missed. It is nestled behind the trees that align the sidewalk just before the traffic light at CR1/Keene Rd (across the street from Wells Fargo Bank). It shares the parking lot with the VPK learning center. It's a well maintained and notably competitively priced animal medical hospital (medical office visit $49 and wellness $29 call for info). There is adequate parking. The service is friendly and caring (Dr. Calhoun). They call and follow-up to check on your fur baby after servicing.

Very disappointed in how this place conducts business. I took my dog here who has mild vet anxiety and was told I had to drug him in order to do his shots and even with the drugs only about half his shot went into his body and the tech said “that’s good enough”. A few weeks later I used their boarding facility where upon my arrival to pick him up they informed me they had to drug him everyday without calling to inform me. He was so out of it he could hardly hold his head up. I hadn’t been back since and just called to get a refill of his anxiety meds before NYE knowing that he will need till pills for that and an upcoming appointment in a month to get his shots. I was informed they will not fill his prescription without an appointment (one he will not calmly go to without the pills) and told me “he will be fine without them”. This place uses anxiety meds when it convenient for them without thinking of the animals safety first. When I expressed my concern to the receptionist Jen. She essentially called me a liar and said her records say that he is totally fine without anxiety medication. If that’s the case then why did you drug him for 4 days without telling me first. Definitely won’t be returning to this vet and I recommend you don’t either.

I can’t say enough nice things about Dunedin Animal Medical Center!! I have brought my own cat several times and have been pleased, but this morning my sisters cat needed emergency care and they were phenomenal!! We were turned away at two other emergency vets due to the approaching hurricane, but they got us in as soon as the doctor arrived at 8am and we were out by 9:30am with new medications and a new plan of treatment. Thank you so so much Dunedin Animal Medical Center!!!

I had my pet rat, Nova, get deathly sick so fast, I knew it was only going to end with help. It was 5.00pm, no other place was either open or would take rats. I was very broke and didnt know where to go to help our boy. I called this hospital, whom I have never used before. The receptionist was so sweet, putting me on hold to ask if the Vet could euthanise my boy. He said, yes, come in. They were waiting for us, saw us into a room, and made it feel like we were the only people with a dying pet. Completely understanding. We wanted to be with him when he went, and while they usually take them in back, they let us cuddle him the whole time. Very caring and explained everything. We even got a sympathy card signed by all in the mail. And it was only $50. I highly recommend them, and will be back. J
